About this Project
YorùbáTexts is a community-driven initiative dedicated to creating a permanent, accessible digital record of all published works in the Yorùbá language. By cataloging these texts, we ensure that the rich literary, historical, and cultural heritage of the Yorùbá people is preserved for scholars, students, and future generations. Our goal is to make these invaluable resources visible, discoverable, and celebrated worldwide.
Why this work matters
Many Yorùbá Texts Are Disappearing
Decades of Yorùbá writing especially from the 1900s to early 2000s are out of print and mostly remain undocumented. Without collective effort, we risk losing these voices forever.
There’s No Single Place to Find Them
Yorùbá texts are scattered across catalogs, shelves, and private collections. We are building one place to trace and document them all—by the people, for the people.
Literary Heritage is Cultural Memory
Every Yorùbá book carries knowledge, language, and worldview. Preserving them means preserving how we speak, think, teach, and remember.
We Can’t Do This Alone
This is not a one-person archive. It's a collective effort powered by volunteers, publishers, librarians, and readers who care about Yorùbá heritage.
